| Frequently
Asked Questions
Following are the questions we hear
most often from potential guests.
How far away is the guesthouse
from the French Quarter?
If you walk down Touro Street, it's
four blocks; if you walk down Frenchmen Street, it's five
blocks. These are not long blocks either. Timewise, the
walk takes about five minutes.
How do we reserve a room?
By simply calling us and providing a
date that works for you. We take down your essentials --
name, address, phone number and of course, the all-important
credit card number. Our policy is to charge half of the
total bill at the time you make the reservation. Two weeks
before your arrival, we contact you to make sure you are
coming and we charge the remaining half that is due. We
accept all major credit cards. We'll send you your confirmation
via e-mail or snail mail.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations within 21 days of the
first night of the reservation require a forfeiture of the
first night’s stay unless otherwise noted on the reservation
confirmation. Cancellations within 14 days of the first
night of the reservation require full forfeiture. If we
can rebook the room, we'll refund the full amount.
Do you have special rates for
extended stays?
Yes. Guests who stay five nights or
longer generally are entitled to some kind of discount depending
upon the time of year or the event.
Do the rooms hold more than
two people?
Not really. Both of our rooms are geared
pretty much for one or two people.
Do you allow smoking?
No. To insure that Le Papillon celebrates
another 170 years of service, smoking is not permitted.
Do you allow children?
We do not accept children under the
age of 17 years.
Are you pet friendly?
Definitely!
Especially for those who have greyhounds or other sighthounds.
Pets should be well-groomed and well-behaved. Because of
insurance requirements, we cannot accept pit bulls or rottweillers.
Two rescued greyhounds and a cat reside on the premises.
We should be informed in advance that guests plan to bring
pets.
Do you serve breakfast?
Sort of. We find that most guests want
to go to a local restaurant for breakfast. Plus, per city
ordinance, guesthouses in New Orleans are not allowed to
serve a hot breakfast. However, we can provide a variety
of cereals, oatmeals, and fruit. Also, each room contains
a basket of snack foods such as Little Debbies, potato chips,
pretzels, cookies, microwaveable popcorn, coffee, bottled
water, tea, coffee and soda pop. Binders Bakery is just
five doors down and guests make a beeline there when they
smell the bread baking. La Peniche, a restaurant just two
blocks away, serves a dynamite breakfast -- omelettes with
shrimp and crawfish, grits, biscuits and gravy -- that kind
of stuff.
Do you have parking?
No. There is off-street parking -- which
is where we park. The street is not zoned. Also, there are
parking lots nearby where you can park overnight if you
choose to do so.
